ZİÇEV & AKDENİZ UNIVERSITY - GİZEM TUNA, ASYMMETRY
"Asymmetry" exhibition consisting of the works of Gizem Tuna is at Nobu between 26.11 - 26.12.2021.

ZİÇEV Antalya's "ASYMMETRY" exhibition, which presents the "Reflection of Brotherhood 2021" and "Different Eyes Do Not Contact 2022" projects, met with the audience at Nobu Project.

Developed as a social support project of ZİÇEV and Akdeniz University Faculty of Fine Arts, the project was coordinated and curated by Assoc. The project "TO BE THE LANGUAGE OF MIND", undertaken by Ebru Nalan SÜLÜN, consists of twenty-four photographic works produced by Gizem Tuna for the "ZİÇEV" calendar works. In the "Reflection of Fraternity 2021" photo series, the concept of fraternity was emphasized through the "mirror" metaphor and the presentation of mentally retarded children and their siblings together. In the “Different Eyes Do Not Contact Project” in 2022; With the slogan "Autism is not a disease, it is a difference, and different eyes do not always want to come into contact", the focus is on the eyes and gaze actions of autistic individuals.

In the curatorial setup of the exhibition, an “interactive experience area” consisting of lines accompanying the photography works and video installation aiming to experience the spirit of empathy for autistic individuals has been developed. In the conceptual theme of the exhibition; The concept of “Asymmetry”, which is also included in the title, opens up for discussion. Associate Professor. In the text of the curator, in which Ebru Nalan Sülün focuses on the harmony of differences, the title of "Asymmetry" is explained as follows:

“…. The word 'symmetry'; It is defined as “the most important feature of both physical and abstract systems”. This word, like a hallucination, not only shapes our attitude towards life, but also determines the way to reach perfection and the most beautiful. The eye/mind, accustomed to the perfection of proportions, balanced bodies and images, begins to have difficulty in perceiving the different, and it begins to perceive everything contrary to the nature of things as the other due to this conditioning. The delusion of humanity to think that everything in nature is "symmetrical" is actually not an attitude that equates to reality. In fact, nothing in nature, including the human body, has perfect and symmetrical proportions on a micro and macro scale. Scientific studies show that asymmetries that we are not aware of build the natural and aesthetic. All the asymmetries that exist in every detail in nature and that we are not aware of, actually constitute the nuances that build the perfection in the aesthetic context in our minds. Every phenomenon we see, perceive, think and feel strengthens and becomes beautiful with the differences it contains. The students, heroes and families of ZİÇEV, whom you will see in the exhibition, convey this perfect harmony to us with all its realities. You in the exhibition; We invite you to experience the possibilities of independent expression in the perfect balance created by "asymmetry" and your power of empathy. With a real, sincere, ordinary and interactive face…”

The exhibition, which met with the audience at Nobu Project, can be viewed until 26.12.2021.
